Over the last few months, our team has been working hard to develop activities across all our projects in Rwanda, Syria, and Pakistan.
In Rwanda, we successfully completed the first clinical audit of our partner organisation’s Palliative Care services, in addition to training their staff on how to do these audits themselves, and supporting on the delivery of a final presentation shared at the organisation’s latest board meeting. In addition, a dual deployment to Rwanda and Malawi is currently being organised, with members of our team travelling to meet and work with project field staff face to face in late September, provide a range of healthcare training and ensure standards of care continue to be met.
Meanwhile, in Syria, our Psychosocial Support tents were replaced with more permanent and weather-proof containers to ensure both children and staff are safer, and provided with proper ventilation. In addition, Doctors Worldwide Turkiye purchased 3-4 AC units to fit into the new containers to ensure a temperature controlled environment.
Over the past few months, our staff at the Doctors Worldwide Hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, have been preparing for a new collaboration aimed at improving primary care provision in Pakistan alongside three new members of the steering committee: Shine Humanity, ALIGHT Pakistan and STMU (Shifa University). This decision was made in order to ensure the hospital is able to further develop in its provision of healthcare and serve the local community effectively. On July 1st, the handover was made official, and as part of this work a ‘Health for All Collective’ event was organised - the first ever project dedicated to quality Primary Health Care, bringing together stakeholders and experts in discussion around healthcare access and improvement.
Finally, for those based in the UK, we are holding an inaugural coffee morning in Chelmsford on Saturday 14th of September, 10-1pm at Caffé Marconi Drop in and learn more about our work and how to get involved.
