‘Strengthening Health Systems in Yemen’- DWW is Guest Speaker at Discussion Day

On Saturday 6th April at Birmingham University, Health Professionals for Yemen held their annual meeting where Doctors Worldwide was invited to speak about health programming beyond relief work. The theme of the day was about strengthening health systems in Yemen.

DWW was delighted to attend alongside over 25 health professionals from different backgrounds, all focused on improving health in Yemen.

The morning sessions saw a focus on capacity building as a means of improving health outcomes. Alongside DWW CEO Monowara Gani, guest speakers included Ann Hoskins (Public Health England) and Muhammad Abbas (Leicester University/Leicestershire Partnership Trust).

The afternoon consisted of presentations by Dr Wesam Al-Sakkaf and Dr Mobasher Choudhary about their recent medical mission to Yemen. Following this, the group engaged in discussions about potential health projects.

DWW would like to thank all involved in this very valuable and insightful day of talks, and we hope to be involved in similar knowledge-sharing events in the future.
