Despite some areas of relative affluence there are still many areas of poverty within Kenya, a UK charity opened a school and orphanage in an area outside Mombassa, often catering for abandoned children from the city. The service provided is free of charge and the local charity in Kenya is looking to expand its service on the existing site and provide a more comprehensive health care for the surrounding families and villages.

Doctors Worldwide was requested to help enhance this service. At present DWW will provide the necessary equipment to run a small family practitioners service, we have already supplied ufficient funds to have a full time clinic run by a local doctor including the free provision of all medicines necessary.

The next step will be to send volunteers to work alongside the local physician and provide additional help, support, trraining and guidance to the staff and local population. The area itelf is very safe with no security concerns and with accomodation available.
